It's a wonderful lesson to learn!

My sensei always talked about the process of learning from the part of uke as being like a film negative. Once that negative is properly developed, you can produce an endless number of "positives" or prints!

Great post and good luck!

Maggie,
With this new found knowledge, think about this. When you are thinking about your next test techniques (or even before that), ask someone of that rank or higher to be nage and take a lot of ukemi for the test techniques. I bet you get a better understanding of the correct movement. Many times when I was preparing a person for their test, I would have an uke of lower rank taking ukemi (that was all we had available at the time). Anyway, I would have them switch and make the test candidate take ukemi. Not to my surprise, the other student was doing the techniques very well.
