And The Winner is...
Our June raffle winner is...Jose Jaile! Remember, for every class a student attends, we submit an entry on your behalf in our monthly raffle.

Kids Kyu Testing
Next Saturday, August 7, we will conduct kyu testing for our kids' class. Good luck!

Morning Class
We now have a group of regulars who attend the morning class. If you haven't tried it, and want to start your week right, join us every Monday at 7 a.m. It's a great way to begin your day.

Train For Free
Help us grow the school! When you refer a student, you train free for the month. Our student promotion also applies to family members, and can be combined with our family and quarterly discounts.

Kid's Movie Night...Last Hurrah Before School Starts
Kids, make plans for our final summer movie. As usual, we'll provide the pizza, popcorn, and fruit drinks. We'll also organize some fun games. And as always, feel free to bring a guest. We've scheduled movie night for Saturday, August 21 at 6 p.m.

Technique of the Month - Ikkyo
(1) Uke grabs Nage's open hand, from ai hanmi. (2) Leading with her thumb, Nage initiates kokyu, drawing Uke into her center and shifting Uke's balance to his front foot (kuzushi). (3) Nage raises her hands kokyu, breathing out. (4) Nage continues the motion, creating openings for atemi. (5) Arms extended, Nage cups Uke's elbow, and takes Uke's balance to the front. (6) Leading Uke into her center, Nage tenkans, applying pressure to the elbow. (7) Nage places Uke's shoulder on the mat, and exposes his elbow for atemi. (8) Nage turns Uke's elbow while pinning and extends. (9) Nage moves to safety, maintaining zanshin.
