Seiichi Sugano Shihan
From Charlie McGinnis, Chairman of the United States Aikido Federation:

On behalf of the USAF and Yamada Sensei, it is with great sadness that we announce the Seiichi Sugano Shihan and Dee Seabolt Sensei passing of Seiichi Sugano Shihan on Sunday, August 29th. Sugano Shihan succumbed to several complications related to diabetes and cancer.

Yamada Sensei is deeply saddened and regrets not being in NY at this most difficult time. He has an important commitment, conducting a seminar in the place of Tamura Sensei in France, and will write a message to the Aikido community when he returns.

We will provide more details on the appropriate way to convey individual expressions of sympathy to Sugano Shihan's immediate family as they become available.

We will all miss his inspiring teaching, warmth and generosity.

Kid's Movie Night
Kids, make plans for our first movie night of the new school year. As usual, we'll provide the pizza, popcorn, and fruit drinks. We'll also organize some fun games. And as always, feel free to bring a guest. We've scheduled our next movie night for Saturday, September 18 at 6:00 p.m.

Grady Lane Sensei in Jacksonville
Yep, you read that right. Lane Sensei of Brevard Aikikai will be in Jacksonville Saturday, September 25th, to teach our morning classes. Please make plans to attend.

The Hard Time Saints
Oscar SennThe Williams-Cornelius Gallery is featuring the art of Oscar Senn, one of our senior students. Last week, I saw photos of his paintings, and...they look awesome.

The showing will take place from September 10th to October 5th. A reception is also planned for September 10 at 6:00 p.m. The gallery is located at 643 Edison Street, inside Daryl Bunn Studios.

I've attached the invite for you to print and share. See you there!
