Our annual cleansing class is this Saturday, January 6, beginning at 2 p.m.
In years past I would tell you the one rule of Fight Club Cleansing Class: You do not talk about cleansing class. But seriously, with our monthly misogi, everyone pretty much knows the deal.
We are having a party, however, which I think is a big step up from the actual Fight Club, which I'm pretty sure discouraged any form of happiness or joy.
Monthly Misogi
The technique last month was kata menuchi ude kimenage. For December, it was ryokata kokyunage.
Congratulations to our surviving students: Dee, Jerry, Ramon, Amber, Clinton, and Buck.
Like some miserable march from an Ingmar Bergman film, our journey is now at a blessed and final end. Surely Sensei won't continue this madness for another year?
Student Promotion
Congratulations Victoria for your well deserved promotion to 5th kyu. Great job!
Also, our congratulations to Svetlana, Amber, Coleman, and Clinton for their superlative 3rd kyu tests.
Now let's see, were those the only promotions we've had recently? I seem to recall one more....
Buck Pittman, 4th Dan
Our congratulations to Mr. Buck Pittman for passing his yondan test at Winter Camp in Fort Lauderdale. And thank you to everyone who helped Buck prepare for his test.
Winter Camp
No pictures of the bears, unfortunately. (Confused? So were we!) These photos are excellent, however.
Mojo the Dojo Cat
Yes, we have a cat named Mojo. Yes, he is adorable. And yes, you are now allowed to say "I saw some Mojo in the dojo." (C'mon, I know you want to say it.)
Some backstory: Clinton and Amber rescued Mojo after he was hit by a car near the school. After arranging for surgery, and in general providing for his upkeep, Mojo now keeps a watchful eye from his perch on the sofa.
Go ahead and say hi! He won't bite! Probably!
Dojo Christmas Party @ the Pittmans
This year our dojo party was held at the Pittmans. Our thanks to Buck and LJ.
